Genuine Work at Home Jobs

Rebecca Kimski asked:

Working from home seems so unreal to some people. Have you asked yourself, “What could I do? Can I really make a living? Is it legal?”

Genuine work-at-home jobs do exist. And yes, with just a computer and Internet access, you’re half way there! But it’s important to know that anyone who wants to be able to make money in a job working from home must be willing to WORK. Yes, genuine work at home jobs aren’t “sit around and watch the money pour in” jobs! So to be successful and make it all the way, you need to be a self-starter who is serious, organized and creative.

Do you really believe those ads you see about earning thousands by just sending a couple of emails? Working from home on any real Internet-based activity means that you have to put in the hours to see the results. Of course, that’s the beauty of working from home. You put in the hours that you want and when you want. If you just need a bit more spending money here and there, you can make money with a minimum number of hours. No stress, no objectives.

To the other extreme, you can decide that you want to make working at home a full-time job and a revenue-making activity. This is absolutely possible. Legitimate work at home opportunities are out on the market. It’s up to you to do the research and see what suits your needs. But there are a couple of things that you can consider right off.

First of all, you don’t need to spend millions to earn millions. Don’t go off buying every book that’s out there to get “THE” major tip that will make you rich. Sorry to shatter your dreams, but if you have a genuine work at home job, you still have to work, remember? But instead of working for someone else, you’re working for yourself. Which means that instead of putting just a percentage into your pocket, whatever you earn goes to YOU and your hard work!?

Yes, you got it. The more you work, the more you can earn. Fabulous, isn’t it??So you organize yourself the way YOU want. You work as much (or as little) as YOU want. You are YOUR own boss. But if you choose one book to read, go ahead and try it. Follow it to the letter and don’t get discouraged. You were warned from the beginning that it takes work to earn money, and a genuine work at home job doesn’t make you rich in 24 hours.

So that brings me to the second point. There are many ways that you can make money from home. Genuine work at home jobs do exist. But you have to do some research and, like with any job, choose the opportunity that suits your schedule, your needs and your goals. Your first job is to decide why you want to work from home, how often you can work and how much you’d like to make in revenue. From there, you can go ahead and browse the Internet to see what is being offered and compare the opportunity to your needs. Bookmark the page that interest you and you can come back to them to consider or try at any time.

So for tip number three: don’t just sit for hours contemplating. The only way you’ll know if working at home is for you – or if you can make money from working at home – is GOING FOR IT! Try it out. Don’t spend millions before you make millions. Choose ONE program and understand how it works. As you make money, you can then reinvest to add more tools and enlarge your potential. Genuine work at home jobs mean that you’re constantly learning and updating your knowledge. It’s rewarding psychologically, but also financially! The best of both worlds!

Here are two programs that interested me. They?have helped so many people understand what genuine work at home jobs are and have allowed many people to be successful and independent. Actually, the people aren’t successful because of the books or programs but because these people are “do-ers” and have followed the tips and methods provided.?As we said, success depends on YOU and what you do with the information that you receive.

PotPieGirl (Jennifer) is a true success story that is worth digging into. Jennifer started out with a computer, Internet access, and an enthusiasm to learn and change her life. She made it. And she’s put down what she’s learned on paper to share with others. There’s enough business out there for all of us!?

Dave Bullock also has 7DayProfits that has a lot of good tips. If you’d like to start out slowly, without feeling guilty about spending money to get started, go for Dave’s program. It’s not expensive and is worth every penny.?

Then, when you’re more confident and when you’ve earned a bit, you can go ahead and buy PotPieGirl’s One Week Marketing Guide. And then you can mix and match and keep learning about how to improve your business and increase earnings!

Women in Business Vs Men

Bridget Ayers asked:

We know women in business are different then men in business, but how different are they and is being different really a bad thing?

Men control the business world, men hold higher and more influential positions than women, and men get paid more. So why do women even bother? I am a woman and I am in business, and I do not worry or even think about what positions men hold, or how much they make. In business my greatest concerns are how to do business well, be ridiculously successful, while also living life on my terms. Don’t get me wrong I am competitive but the competition starts with me and moves to those companies that are in my market place.

In sports if you are a basketball player do you tryout for the football team? You are both athletes but football and basketball are very different and you do not have to be good at one to be good at the other. So why would a women try to be a man, what does one have to do with other? The competition is not between men and women it is between your company and the competing company.

The Author of “What Men Don’t Tell Women About Business,” Chris Flett, believes that women are missing the boat by not studying successful businessmen, learning from them, and conforming to them. Mr. Flett recently appeared on Donny Deutsch’s The Big Idea to plug his new book and to take on some pretty opinionated women. I watched the episode and I must say that Flett didn’t do too well, in fact there were times when he looked downright scared. So much for the “Alpha Male” dominating the “Submissive Females”!

The biggest problem Flett has is that he is naive which makes him seem condescending. I am giving him the benefit of the doubt here, really he could be just clueless or worst case a pompous ass but let’s just go with well meaning in a bungling sort of way. Flett portrays women as being weak in every manner possible, yet the demographic he is targeting are those women who had the strength to get where they are and now just need help getting to the next level. News flash Chris you wrote this book for women to learn from and yet you do not know women at all do you?

Chris contributed to The Big Idea Blog after the show and there a few points that I find interesting so let’s look at them and discuss…shall we?

When a woman says, “It’s us against them, I don’t need to know what men think”, you know that at some point in her past, she has been excluded from the conversation and is not happy about it.

How like a man to think that? I personally do not treat business like a war, where there is war there is turmoil and plenty of casualties, I am not looking for either in my business. I also do not need to know what men think, I need to know what successful entrepreneurs think, and then I need to incorporate that into who I am and how I do things.

One guest said that she couldn’t “get into the board room so she left to form her own company”. Having knowledge like we talked about today IS only available in the board room, but some are so furious about past experiences that they disregard it and refuse to even listen to what is being offered.

Chris, Chris, Chris – you make this sound like a bad thing! A woman who chooses to create her own successful company as opposed to trying to do it on someone else’s terms is inspirational not weak. If I am not wanted in that boardroom then you are damn right I am going to create my own. Work on your weaknesses but play to your strengths, that is how you win the game. Chris did you have this same opinion of Steve Jobs when he wasn’t being listened to in the Apple boardroom and went his own way in 1986? I don’t think so.

There is one area I agree with Mr. Chris Flett and that is knowledge is power, you should keep yourself educated, informed, and never be afraid to learn from others be they men or women. I am not that interested in reading this book and is not that he doesn’t make some good points, rather that there are other books out there that would provide more value for me.

Choosing people to learn from and business acumen to incorporate into your business should be done based on your industry, business style, and ultimately your goals. I will say Flett seems to spread his naivety beyond the female gender and into the corporate domain by insinuating that all boardrooms are equal. Fortunately all men/women are not created the same, Warren Buffet and Donald Trump are two very successful men but I would wager that they are very different in the boardroom. Martha Stewart, Susie Orman, and Oprah all very successful women and how much alike do you think they are in the boardroom?

I know I could learn from all five individuals but what I would choose to take from each would be dependent on who I am and what I want. Business is not about conformity it is about inspiration, innovation and just getting out there and doing it. Mentors are important but they are meant to be learned from not cloned. So by all means go out there and learn from others, there is no reason to recreate the wheel, but don’t forget who you are in the process.

Home Based Business

Mary Babic asked:

I desperately was looking for a business to conduct in my home after being a stay at home mom for 12 years. I was not getting any call backs on my resume in this tough economy. I have my 4 year degree in History of Art, and I have a successful sales background too. I was looking for a business that would tap into my creativity and love of research. The hunt for a business did not come easy. In fact after a few failed ventures in MLM’s and Health Insurance I learned about virtual author assisting. The key was to never give up. I always knew something was out there for me, especially in this virtual age. So, I thought to get what I want, I will have to do it myself even if that means starting my own business.

There is a lot of junk being offered, a lot of get rich scams and MLM’s. My advice is to remain calm in this virtual storm and focus, focus, focus on your strengths. Also do inventories of what your strong skills are and how you can make that into a business? By taking on a business at home you will feel spasms of uncertainty and self-doubt. I actually went to Linkedin, Facebook and Twitter and found other professionals like me. This helped my self-confidence and I gained a tremendous amount of business advice which I still use today. I think by joining like-minded groups and individuals can help with your direction and self-confidence.

I decided to upgrade my present skillset and I took a certification course as an author assistant. My certification program helped me set up my business. At first I just did all the free stuff until I made money. But it is extremely important to be in a program that will help you set up your business at no charge.

By joining these groups and offering helpful advice aides in my personal marketing. I actually have had people come to me for guidance. I have been most successful on Linkedin connecting with similar people. I get more business from people who follow me and interact with me by establishing an element of trust

I don’t think blogs are considered social media, but I have connected with bloggers in my niche. Again what is important is showing how I am the expert. I have had a person come to me with questions that turned into business. Finally, on social media sites such as Twitter, Linkedin and Facebook I like to occasionally send out surveys on my business to better improve customer service. I get recognized for this and it turns into business.

This career is wonderful. I started with nothing; I do all my advertising through local Meetup groups, social media and blogs. All I needed was a certification in this field so I could show my prospective clients that I was an expert in assisting authors. I am a Certified Professional Virtual Author’s Assistant. I assist non-fiction authors in the collaboration of book assembly such as Fact Checking, Permissions, Book Marketing, and more. Additionally author’s assistants have been around for well over 100 years. So, it is nice that a busy author can work with a part time assistant on mundane tasks or even market the book. You can find me at http://awritersassistant.com/ and there is even a link to get certified as an author’s assistant on my web site.

The added bonus of owning your business is that I am an example to my children and the lesson of solving problems and moving forward instead of giving up.
